Kentucky, USA - Where my fond childhood memories are formed

When we were growing up in Singapore, Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) was the only fast food chain that my grandparents would patronise. Back in those days, whenever my grandparents won a lottery ticket or when they wanted to celebrate a special occasion differently, they would pick the KFC restaurant in our neighbourhood. Until today, KFC has a very special place in my heart. KFC is more than fried chicken to me. KFC means family reunion and celebration.

In my most recent USA trip, I made a special stop at the Harland Sanders Café and Museum – The World’s First Kentucky Fried Chicken.
Harland Sanders Cafe
This humble café is where Colonel Sanders perfected the secret recipe for the world famous Kentucky Fried Chicken. Without this café situated along a US Highway in Corbin, Kentucky, there will be no KFC in our family traditions.

The little café meant something special to America’s history too. On August 7, 1990, the Harland Sanders Café was added to the National Register of Historic Places.

The beauty of a tailor made vacation itinerary is that I have the opportunity to adjust my travel plans to cater to my desire to visit top visitors’ attractions in USA whilst not neglecting relatively unknown destinations that has a special place in my heart. Corbin, Kentucky – home of the World’s First Kentucky Fried Chicken and where my childhood memories of happy family reunions began.
